Madden 24: Best Superstar Abilities For Each Position
Superstar Abilities For Wide Receiver
Red
Zone Threat - This ability boosts the catching ability of receivers who
face single coverage in the red zone. Receivers already possess an
advantage in the red zone with their speed or size, so having the Red
Zone Threat Superstar ability can elevate a pass catcher to unguardable
levels. |
Route
Technician - This ability allows receivers to perform quicker cuts
while running routes, which can be the difference between finding an
opening or remaining guarded by the defender. Whether receivers favor
speed or toughness, executing routes is key for the offense to find
success on the field. |
Acrobat
- Receivers with the Acrobat Superstar ability experience a huge
improvement toward diving catches. Spectacular diving catches come in
handy when quarterbacks either underthrow their targets or specifically
place the pass in an area where only the receiver can make a play. |
Deep
Out Elite - This Superstar ability is a necessity for deep threats. It
greatly improves a receiver’s catch rating on deep passes outside the
numbers. These throws include back shoulder passes or deep out routes
that are mainly utilized to preserve time and gain large chunks of yards
at the same time. |
Short
Out Elite - Short Out Elite improves a receiver’s ability to catch
short passes outside the numbers. These are passes thrown toward the
sidelines and, hopefully, out of the reach of defensive backs. It’s
already a bit difficult completing passes on the outer portions of the
field, so anything to help you convert on these plays, the better. |
Superstar Abilities For Quarterback
Fearless
- Reducing that pressure can significantly improve an offense, making
Fearless the best Superstar ability for a quarterback in Madden 24. This
ability makes the passer immune to any defensive pressure while in the
pocket. If you have to scramble outside the pocket, the ability won’t be
active anymore, so make sure you stand firm in the pocket and you’ll be
rewarded. |
Red
Zone Deadeye - Quarterbacks need to remain calm, cool, and collected in
the red zone, so it helps to have Red Zone Deadeye. This Superstar
ability gives perfect pass accuracy on all throws in the red zone. It
doesn’t matter if it’s a short throw, inside the pocket, outside the
pocket, on the run, or standing still, this ability boosts the
quarterback’s accuracy across the board. |
High Point Deadeye - High Point Deadeye greatly improves accuracy on high throws but only on throws under 20 yards. While this ability might not be useful on the 50-yard Hail Mary you had in mind, it’ll definitely make a major impact in the red zone when the field shrinks or if you’re looking to simply move the chains for a first down. |
Gunslinger - This superstar ability grants faster throws and speeds up the arm animation for quarterbacks. Being able to get the ball out quicker can be the difference between a first down and a sack for negative yards, especially if the window of opportunity is small to deliver a completed pass in tight coverage. |
Sideline Deadeye - In situations where you need to preserve time, being able to properly throw along the sidelines can be the difference between winning and losing. Sideline Deadeye improves the pass accuracy for throws on the outer part of the field, whether it’s a deep streak toward the endzone or a cut leading out of bounds. |
Superstar Abilities For Running Back
Reach
For It - This is the ultimate Superstar ability for running backs, as
it allows them to frequently fight to gain additional yards while being
tackled. This ability can be the difference between scoring a touchdown
or converting a first down instead of being stifled by the defense.
Running backs with Reach For It can be a headache for defenses in Madden
24. |
Goal Line Back - When offenses reach the red zone, the field shrinks and the battle at the line of scrimmage becomes much more important. This Superstar ability provides a huge boost for run blockers. Offenses typically ride the coattails of their running backs when they get near the end zone and this ability will help offenses punch in a rushing touchdown by gaining the advantage at the line of scrimmage. |
Bruiser
- Running backs with this special ability tend to bulldoze over whoever
is in front of them. They have more powerful truck and stiff arm
animations, which increases their overall ability to shed tacklers.
While these running backs may not have top speed, they surely make up
for it with their physicality. This can be devastating forces of nature
for the defense, especially when they’re equipped with the Bruiser
Superstar ability. |
Tank - Hit-stick tackles are more powerful tackles by defenders, but they can be a bit erratic. If a defender misses, it’s easy for the offensive player to shed the tackler and continue running forward. Tank allows running backs to break full-on hit-stick tackles, which can also prevent them from fumbling the football. |
Backfield Master - This superstar ability creates more hot routes for running backs, so the quarterback can adjust their routes on the field, and it improves their overall catching ability. Most running backs don’t have high catching ratings, so the improvement in that category might not be worth it for some rushers, but it could prove the difference between dropped passes and gaining a handful of yards. |
Superstar Abilities For Linebacker
Edge
Threat Elite - Constant pressure on the quarterback will create a
ripple effect through the entire defense, and you can take advantage of
errant throws caused by hurrying the quarterback. Doing this will give
your defensive back a higher possibility of staying with their receiver,
disrupting a throw, or even picking off a pass for a crucial
interception. Edge Threat Elite works as a fusion of the Under Pressure
and Edge Threat abilities. This ability will help you consistently get
into the backfield and foil the offense. |
Strip Specialist - Strip Specialist reduces the tackle penalty and increases the effectiveness of taking down the ball carrier when also attempting to strip the ball. This can pay huge dividends when getting to the quarterback in the backfield, making the difference between a sack and completed pass while lowering the damage from an unsuccessful strip. |
Lurker - Anyone who has played Madden 24 has probably made the mistake of seeing a receiver beat the cornerback on a slant only to pass it to the opposing middle linebacker sitting in a zone defense. The flip side is that it is also great to be the defense that demoralizes the opposing team with the same tactic. The Lurker ability gives defenders spectacular catch animations while lurking in middle zones. Players with this ability will be more likely to make jumping and one-hand catches when the ball is in their vicinity. While the AI can make use of Lurker, it is most effective with user-controlled linebackers. |
Mid
Zone KO - An offense with a good tight end or receiving running back
will terrorize you, especially if your team is using a zone defense. For
clarity, midfield is considered anything less than twenty yards from
the line of scrimmage. With the Mid Zone KO ability, you can give your
defender a quicker reaction time to passes thrown over the middle.
Defenders with this ability will also cause more pass knockdowns and
tips that can turn into interceptions. |
Secure Tackler - Players like perform a hit stick tackle every play on defense. The advantage is that you have a higher chance of a fumble and it helps with tackling bigger ball carriers, but the disadvantage of hit stick tackles is that it’s easier to miss elusive runners. Secure Tackler is exactly the ability it sounds like, as this gives the defender a higher success rate on conservative and diving tackles, which fall outside of using the hit stick. |
Superstar Abilities For Cornerback
Acrobat
- Cornerbacks have a reputation for being the most athletic football
players on the field. They have to be able to tackle well, backpedal as
fast as a wide receiver runs forward, and break up passes. They also
sometimes pick up blitz assignments. Acrobat is the best defensive
ability in the game as it enhances the strengths that most cornerbacks
need to possess on a functional level to be successful. Defensive backs
with this ability will have increased range when diving for
interceptions and breaking up passes. |
Deep Route KO - Tall defenders can be very problematic on deep passes. Even in great coverage, a receiver like DK Metcalf can rise up over the defenders and still come down with the ball. The Deep Zone KO ability gives defenders a greater chance at batting the ball and reacting quicker in deep zone coverage. The deep zone is anything 20+ yards from the line of scrimmage. This is an ability that is great for cornerbacks as well as safeties in Cover 2, 3, and 4 zone coverages. |
Flat
Zone KO - Tight ends and running backs love to sneak into the flats
since cornerbacks usually have to chase the wide receiver downfield.
This leaves the flats clear for an outlet pass once you remove all other
options for the opposing quarterback. Flat Zone KO gives a defender
quicker reaction times and the ability to force more drops when in flat
zone coverage. The flat zone is the passing zone that extends from the
end of the offensive line to out of bounds, and also extends downfield
ten yards. Cover 2 and Cover 3 schemes are the best way to utilize this
ability. |
One Step Ahead - This is a great ability to give your cornerbacks. It increases reaction time for defenders to adjust to cut moves in man coverage. It can really help when you are playing a run-heavy team. They can catch you off guard by throwing slants and high-low pass schemes so you want to counteract that with a cornerback that can keep up with them and force them to take what you give. |
Pick Artist - Sometimes the perfect formation and play are called and your defender is in the ideal position to intercept an errant pass by the quarterback – only for the defender attempting to catch the ball seeing it bounce right off of his hands. The Pick Artist ability enhances a defender’s catch rate on uncontested interceptions. It also gives you unlimited stamina on the return. If you use a special move or break a tackle, your stamina will reset to normal so it will have maximum efficiency in possible pick-six situations. This is a great ability to give a cornerback or safety. |
